A NEW Reunion DATE
Happy Autumn Greetings Cross-Green-Smith Family,
This is an UPDATE to our pending 2022 Family Reunion. As previously stated, I am still committed to and looking forward to hosting the next reunion.
I was recently contacted by the Host Hotel, Holiday Inn Alexandria at Carlyle, 2460 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314, with regards to the dates reserved for our 2022 reunion.
Unfortunately, we will need to change the dates of our reunion to July 14- 17, 2022. The change is due to hotel sales personnel staff overbooking events for the weekend we
had chosen. Making the change at this date should still allow enough time for those planning to attend the reunion time to schedule your travel plans accordingly.
Also, due to COVID 19, the hotel has increased its room and catering rates. The room rate for a Queen Room has increased by $10 per night. The Hotel has quoted our room rates
at $149. per night (excluding taxes and fees) for a Queen Room (two beds) and $139. per night (excluding taxes and fees) for a King Room (one bed). The current sales tax is
15.5% and the hotel occupancy tax rate is $1.25 per day tourism tax, per reservation.
I have reserved 10 Rooms for Thursday night, 20 Rooms for Friday night, and 20 rooms for Saturday night. The Hotel will honor the Reunion Room Rates up to Two days prior and
Two days after the reunion. You are responsible for contacting the hotel directly to reserve and pay for your room. Please make sure you identify yourself as being part of the
Cross-Green-Smith Family Reunion. This is really important because we have a contractual obligation to fill the stated number of rooms each night. You can make your reservation

The Cut-Off date for making your reservation, and receiving our discounted rate, is June 14, 2022, at 5:00p CST.
I would like to get a rough count as to how many people will be attending the reunion so I can make sure we do have enough rooms reserved and to work with the hotel to secure
more rooms if needed. If you/your family plan on attending the reunion, please take a minute and send me an email (Smcdonald.cgs@gmail.com) letting me know how many people
will be attending in your group and how many rooms (Queen or King) you will need each night.
As for the activities planned for our upcoming reunion, all activities previously stated for the 2020/2021 reunion will be available during the July 14 - 17, 2022, Family Reunion.
All funds collected towards activities associated with the postponed reunions have been recorded and will be honored at the 2022 reunion.
Since announcing the reunion location, numerous family members have expressed an interest in visiting the African American History Museum here in DC. The official start date of the
family reunion is July 14, however, family members who are interested in visiting the African American History Museum will need to arrive a day early on Wednesday,
July 13, 2022, so we can spend Thursday, July 14 touring the museum. Crowds for the museum are extremely large Friday – Sunday, especially during our tourist season
(April – August). Therefore, we will need to tour the museum on Thursday.
And last but not least, I am asking that those of you who have not yet paid your Annual Dues (2020/2021) of $35. per Adult, please make your payment as soon as possible.
When planning a reunion, the hotel requires a substantial deposit to guarantee the rental of rooms, meeting space/rooms and catering for the banquet. Please send your check/money order

Some Factors to consider in a PLANNING PROCESS for every Family Reunion
A typical day, of picking cotton, for our ancestors in Emanuel Co. GA
Reminder: Dues are $35.00 per year for each family member over 18 years of age.
For those grown children (19 yrs. or more), living at home, they are considered as "adults." Each adult Family member is responsible for paying their own dues and cannot
be counted with their parents' annual dues. If a Family member is between 18-24, and still going to school, he/she CAN be included with his/her parents annual dues.
Annual Dues and ALL other payments or fees (except the Hotel payment) shall be sent to and made payable to Sheila McDonald.
